Morendat Institute of Oil & Gas (MIOG) is a technical training institute established by Kenya Pipeline Company Ltd and registered by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA). The institute is headquartered in Morendat, Naivasha. MIOG is the first institution in Kenya to have its competency based curriculum approved by the newly established curriculum and assessment agency under the Ministry of Education, the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Curriculum Development Assessment & Certification Council (TVETCDACC).

Competency based system of training is now embraced globally. MIOG’s curricula, developed by experts in line with TVETCDACC guidelines covers the following five areas of expertize; Oil Pipeline Mechanical Maintenance, Oil Pipeline Operations, Oil Pipeline Laboratory Technology, Oil Pipeline Fire Officer and Oil Pipeline Instrumentation & Control. The school is modelled to offer training in small manageable classes of about 15 trainees. The trainees are subjected to continuous assessment by internal experts and the assessment is validated by external assessors and verified before being awarded a TVETCDACC national certification.

MIOG courses are unique in that they are demand driven and geared towards providing skills that enable trainees perform given tasks consistently within the expected industry standard. KPC was best suited to host the institute due to the laid down infrastructure that guarantees hands on practicals for the trainees. The pipeline staff who double as trainers possess a wealth of experience that is unmatched in the region. MIOG is therefore the centre of choice in competency based training in East and Central Africa and the third Oil and Gas training centre in Africa after Transnet school of Pipelines in South Africa and Sonatrach in Algeria.
Join us in exploring this field of oil & gas that has a lot of potential in the region.
